Qobuz is a music streaming and download service founded in 2008. Service began in France and expanded to other key European countries. It became available in the U.S. in 2019. The goal of Qobuz is to provide high-quality, digitally delivered music for serious listeners.

Qobuz is available in these countries:

The Qobuz music service takes its name from an ancient Kazakstani/Central Asian musical instrument known as a Kobyz, which was often used in religious rituals to combat evil spirits and disease.

A Qobuz account is linked to the country where it was created. However, you can use your account to listen to music anywhere in the world (based on the offerings of the country account). Because of differences in licensing and distribution agreements, not all music offerings may be available from all country-specific accounts.

Qobuz Streaming and Download Plans

Qobuz offers a 30-day free trial. If you continue after the free trial, you are billed according to the plan you chose when you signed up.

You must provide a valid payment method when signing up for the free trial, and you aren’t charged if you cancel before the end of the free trial. You can listen free until the end of the 30-day period.

All plans provide streaming and download options (U.S.). Here are your choices:

  • Studio Premiere: CD-quality (16 bits/44.1 kHz) streaming in the FLAC format and hi-res quality streaming (24 bits up to 192 kHz) FLAC format. $14.99 month or $150.00 per year.
  • Sublime+: Hi-res quality streaming plus a 40 to 60 percent discount off regular hi-res download prices. $249.99 a year (no monthly option).

What Qobuz Content to Expect

To complement audio quality, Qobuz provides a lot of content, including:

Sublime+ features aren’t included with the free trial offer. Also, there is no longer an MP3 quality plan. The previous Hi-Fi and Studio plans have been combined into the Studio Premier plan.

If you have a Sonos system, add Qobuz to your music listening options. Here’s how to do this from the Sonos mobile app:

  • Open the Sonos app. Tap More, then tap Add Music Services.
  • Select Qobuz from the list of available music services, then select I already have an account.
  • When prompted, enter your Qobuz username and password, follow any additional steps, and confirm the Qobuz addition.

How to Renew or Cancel Qobuz

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of the month or year of a selected plan.

Open the Sonos app. Tap More, then tap Add Music Services.

Select Qobuz from the list of available music services, then select I already have an account.

When prompted, enter your Qobuz username and password, follow any additional steps, and confirm the Qobuz addition.

You can also add Qobuz to Sonos using the Sonos PC or Mac app by following similar steps.

You can stop a subscription any time, even during the trial period. You can continue the service until the end of the current period.

After stopping your subscription, you won’t have access to streaming or downloading, but your account will always be available along with previously purchased downloaded content.
