Google+ now is letting you decide who can send you notifications, and you can enable this type of notification in your profile’s account settings.

Just navigate to your Google Plus Account Settings page, in the left menu click on Google+, and then under Who can interact with you and your posts just modify the setting: Who can send you notifications? preference, and change it to one of the Circles that Google+ offers you, or you can easily select the Custom option to add the people you want, group of circles, or anyone. Just a note, the company is updating slowly this feature to its users, so if you don’t see it, come back to the settings later in time.

This setting controls who you’ll get notifications from, if they:

  • Share with you individually
  • Invite you to a hangout
  • Invite you to play or send you messages from a game
  • Select ‘Notify about this post’ (when sharing to a circle you’re in)
  • +Mention your name

You will still be notified if someone adds you to a circle or comments on one of your posts

You can update your settings at https://plus.google.com/settings/plus, which will direct to your account preferences. Read more about this feature here.
