On March 22nd, Microsoft is quietly releasing a new update for Windows 10. The company describes the update as KB3140741 and it doesn’t appear listed on the new Windows 10 History Update site.
KB3140741 is rolling out for PCs running version 1511 of the operating system, and according to Microsoft’s Support website, it’s an update that makes stability improvements for Windows 10 version 1511 servicing stack.
This is also a minor update that replaces update KB3139907, which rolled out to PCs on March 1st, 2016, alongside KB3140743.
The new servicing stack update doesn’t increase the build of the operating system. After installing Windows 10 will remain on build 10586.164.
KB3140741 is available immediately through Windows Update for computers that aren’t part of the Insider program, and it’ll download and install automatically. However, you can always go to Settings > Update & security> Windows Update and manually force the download.
