Another preview for Windows phones has just released. On October 29th, Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 Mobile build 10581 to the Fast ring of updates. The preview brings a few enhancements and improvements over the previous build for mobile devices, but the company says that there aren’t any significant changes on build 10581, only a lot of bug fixes, and now Insiders no longer have to go back to Windows Phone 8.1 to install the latest build of the operating system.

As such, if you are currently running Windows 10 Mobile build 10572, you pretty much know everything that is new and you can upgrade directly. If you stayed on build 10536, you will see a lot of changes, such as improvements on Cortana, Skype messaging apps, Offline maps, and Storage settings, and much more. You can review all the changes on my previous write-up on Windows 10 Mobile build 10572.

Here are the new fixes on Windows 10 Mobile 10581

  • For devices upgraded from Windows Phone 8.1 like the Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 1520 that had the “Hey Cortana” feature – with this build “Hey Cortana” should work again in Windows 10. To make sure it’s turned on, just go to Settings > Extras > Hey Cortana.
  • Battery life should be improved in this build. We fixed several bugs impacting battery life.
  • You can now select photos for sharing through third-party apps like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram Beta, WhatsApp etc.
  • Microsoft fixed an issue where you couldn’t choose some apps to show quick status on the Lock screen via Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
  • There are improvements to text prediction and auto-correction.
  • Video recording functionality has been improved.
  • Visual Voicemail sync should now work properly.
  • The company fixed the dual-SIM issues that appeared in Build 10572.
  • The issue found with Build 10572 where the Chinese Pinyin QWERTY keyboard stopped working after upgrading from Windows Phone 8.1 that our Chinese Windows Insiders has been resolved.

Windows 10 Mobile build 10578 is available for download immediately through the Fast ring of updates, and remember that you are not longer required to be running Windows Phone 8.1 to install the new build. Here is the list of all the known issues.
