Microsoft has just released Windows 10 Mobile build 10586 to the Fast ring of updates, and even though we’re expecting this to be the build that will go out as the final release the new preview is rolling out through with a few but important known issues.
Perhaps the most important known issue in build 10586 is a bug that the company found in Windows 10 Mobile build 10581 that partially corrupts the operating system after resetting the phone to factory defaults. As such, those who have to perform a factory reset on build 10581 will come across a bug that cause a reboot loop.
The workaround to this issue is to use the recovery hardware key combination and go back to the OOBE. Microsoft also recommends to make a full back up before upgrading, and roll back to the previous version if anything goes wrong to roll back using the Windows Device Recovery Tool.
Here are the other known issues for Windows 10 Mobile 10586
- Deploying Silverlight apps through Visual Studio to your phone still won’t work in this build. This issue will be fixed with the release of Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 on November 30th. You can deploy UWP apps to your phone without any issues.
- There is a known issue where the tile for Insider Hub still remains under All apps but doesn’t open. Insider Hub isn’t included in this build. There isn’t a way to get it back unfortunately. However, it’ll return in a future flight! In the meantime, use Insider Hub on the PC as a workaround.
As we can see there are still a few things that aren’t working well, but the list of problems is a lot smaller and there are a lot of good fixes in build 10586. While we keep waiting for Microsoft to ship the final version of the mobile version of its operating system, build 10586 should give us a good picture of what’s to come in the coming days.
