While many of you have installed Windows 10 Technical Preview on virtual machines and spare computers, many also have a Windows Phone and you might be eager to install Windows 10 for phones. Although, it’s still unclear when Microsoft will actually release the first preview, we do have some good news.
According to Gabriel Aul from Microsoft, Windows Phones with 512MB of RAM will be able to run the operating system, even though it was uncertain if low-end devices might not be capable of running the preview.

The second good news is that it appears that the Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones will include a rollback feature, similar to the desktop version of Windows 10, which will allow your phone to go back to the previous version of the operating system if you run into issues or you just want to opt-out of the preview.
On a Tweet, Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul said that the ability to rollback if you hit an issue is very important. However, it’s not clear whether it will be a feature available in the first preview for users.

Keep in mind that the software you’ll be getting is not finished, as such make sure you understand that things will not work flawlessly and a lot of features will not be included. However, it’s good to hear that Microsoft is paying attention and taking care of consumers by making available the Windows 10 on low-end phones and making sure that if something goes wrong, users will have a mechanism to remove the preview and go back to the previous version.
Update: Microsoft confirms that Windows 10 preview for phones will include a recovery tool.
