Among all the new features Microsoft has already included in Windows 10, we have virtual desktops and a new search, both features can be accessed from dedicated buttons located in the taskbar. But the issue was that users didn’t have an easy way to remove these buttons to regain some space in the taskbar.

Now it seems that in the next version of the Technical Preview things are about to change. A new leaked screenshot for the Windows 10 preview build 9879, clearly shows that users will have the option to remove the Task View and Search button from the taskbar.

According to the screenshot, users will be able to right-click the taskbar and choose “Show Task View button” (virtual desktops) and “Show Search button”.

Although, this is a small change, it makes sense for Microsoft adding the new options, as the two buttons take some of the valuable space in the taskbar and besides both features can be accessed by other means, such as by using keyboard shortcuts.

You also will notice in the “Exit Explorer” option in the taskbar menu, which is self-explanatory. While Windows 10 Technical Preview build 8979 may never reach to Windows Insiders, the next version of the preview may just be closing in.
