Windows 10 has reached over 100 million installs in less than two months. Microsoft released Windows 10 to the masses on July 29, 2015, and today a new report from Petri claims that according to sources, Windows 10 has already surpassed the 100 million installs worldwide.
This is a huge milestone for the software giant with such fast adoption of the new operating system without a doubt will make more attractive for developers to invest on bringing new apps to the Windows Store.
The fast adoption in part is because of all the new features the software brings to the table. For starters, Windows 10 is brand new operating system that works everywhere, from devices without a screen using Windows 10 IoT, to Windows 10 Mobile for phones and tablets, to Windows 10 for desktops.
Windows 10 includes many new features, such as the new Start menu, Action Center, the new Settings app, universal Windows apps, and Cortana, which is the Microsoft personal assistant that aims to make you more productive by tracking your every move and offering relevant information.
The other reason is because Microsoft is making Windows 10 a free upgrade for computers running a genuine copy of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, and you cannot beat free.
The interest of the operating system is spiking every day as the company keeps doing everything it cans to push the new version. Recently, we heard that the company is partnering with Baidu, to bring the Chinese search engine to Windows 10 in that market.
Microsoft is also planning a huge Windows 10 hardware event on October 6, which will take place in New York City. During the event we’re expecting the company to announced the Surface Pro 4, the Microsoft Band 2, three new Lumia phones, and more.
We can now clearly say that Windows 10 is off to a good start, but the software giant isn’t going to stop, as it has a goal to reach 1 billion machines running Windows 10 within the first three years of the new operating system.
