Microsoft appears to be testing new features and improvements for future updates of the Settings app. According to a couple of tweets from Albacore (@TheBookisClosed) on Twitter, the latest preview of Windows 11 (build 22543) ships with some hidden features, including setting reminders and new hero controls.
For example, the first screenshot shows that devices running Windows 11 that do not meet the system requirements will get a non-intrusive “System requirements not met” message when they open the Settings app on unsupported devices.
The second screenshot shows that the “Time & language” settings page could soon get hero controls at the top showing the current time and a glance at the time zone and region information.
While these are subtle changes, the screenshots only show a fraction of things that Microsoft is planning for future updates. Recently, a number of other screenshots were made available, revealing several new features and improvements are coming to Windows 11 through the Settings app.
For example, Microsoft plans to add a new option to show stickers on wallpapers on the Background page. “Focus Assist” is expected to be renamed to just “Focus,” and new settings will be included. And the System section is getting a new “Sustainability” page to house new power management settings.
