Microsoft seems to be working on a new “PC Manager” app for Windows 11. A public preview of the app has already been published as a preview on a Microsoft website in China, and it includes recommendations and tools to help you optimize and keep your computer running smoothly.
A few screenshots of the new PC Manager app made their way to the internet (via @ALumia_Italia), revealing an early look at the interface and features.
The design is similar to the Microsoft Defender app for Windows 11 and mobile devices, indicating that the PC Manager will be another app as part of the Microsoft 365 subscription.
The app’s main page shows your computer’s memory usage and temporary files with a “Boost” button.
The app has two sections, including Cleanup and Security. The Cleanup page shows the different storage optimization you can perform to boost the system performance, such as removing unnecessary files, disabling processes, and controlling the apps running a startup.
The Security page includes various suggestions to keep your computer secure, which, interestingly enough, also consists of a suggestion to switch your default browser to Microsoft Edge. In addition, the page suggests scanning your computer with Microsoft Defender Antivirus, downloading updates from Windows Update, and more.
The app is basic and highlights features already found on Windows 11. Although advanced users may not get many benefits from this app, it should help home users optimize their systems and keep them secure.
