Microsoft is announcing Windows Terminal, a new command line app for Windows 10. The new app has been designed to be the primary experience to use Command Prompt, PowerShell, and the different Linux distribution available with the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).

Although you can already run commands from different environments using Command Prompt, the new Windows Terminal will include support tab along with theme and other customization for enthusiasts and developers.

In addition, the Windows Terminal support is expected to include support emoji and GPU-based text rendering.

The app was first unveiled during the Microsoft’s Build conference, and it’s expected to become available for download from the Microsoft Store during the second week of June 2019.

Furthermore, the company is also announcing that is making the Windows Terminal as well as the Windows Console an open source project, which you can clone and modify from GitHub.
