Windows Insider members should start to see a new message regarding compatibility when they check the Release Preview Channel.
Compatibility with Windows 11 has been a concern for many as the public release approaches, primarily due to Microsoft requiring TPM 2.0. As noted by Windows Latest, the company has implemented a new compatibility message to indicate whether or not your PC will be able to run the new operating system.
While this doesn’t simplify the upgrade process, it should make it easier to find out if you should try upgrading in the first place.
There are a lot of specific system requirements to run Windows 11, in particular the aforementioned TPM 2.0. With the new notification rolling out, it should be a little easier for you to tell if your hardware can handle the new operating system.
If you’re a member of the Windows Insider program, you should see a message telling you if your system is compatible when you check the Release Preview Channel.
If your PC is Windows 11 compatible, the message should appear on the right-hand side of the Windows Update screen. It says, “Great news—your PC meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. Specific timing for when it will be offered can vary as we get it ready for you.”
Windows Latest believes that users with incompatible systems will likely receive a similar message stating that their PC does not meet the requirements.
Windows 11 will be available via Windows Update for compatible devices only. However, Microsoft has confirmed that incompatible devices can test it out using Media Creation Tool—though this is not recommended.
