Microsoft is finally bringing support for larger external hard drives on Xbox 360 to increase the storage for games. Time has changed rapidly, the original Xbox 360 only featured 20GB of storage, then the company started selling the slimmer version of the console featuring 250GB of storage space, but still not enough. Xbox 360 featured support for external hard drive for a long time, but up until now it was only limited to 16GB (which basically is nothing).

Today is another day, and Microsoft has not forgotten Xbox 360 and it’s now rolling out a major update, a game changer, that includes support of external hard drive with up to 2TB of storage. With the new feature will enable users to save game downloads, saved games, and other data.

The new capability was first introduced in the Xbox 360 preview program, but now it’s available to everyone along with the following features:

  • Purchase history: You can now view purchases by Settings \ Account \ Purchase History.
  • Password reset: The new update allows users to click “Forgot your password?” to reset the account.
  • Network statistics: To view download and upload speed, and signal strength, go to Settings \ System \ Network Settings.
  • Money: Your Microsoft account balance now appears in the Xbox Dashboard, but you can easily disable by going to Settings \ Profile \ Account Security.
