Music playback with song stored on OneDrive has been a feature of Xbox Music for Windows since March, and on a new update that has just released, Microsoft is adding the same feature to Xbox Music on Android and iOS.
Although, the company recently announced that Xbox Music is being rebranded to Groove, the updates rolling out for iOS and Android do not reflect the new name. However, users on Android and iOS can now upload songs to OneDrive and streaming to the mobile app without having to pay for a subscription.
The new update also let users download the songs for offline listening without a subscription. However, an Xbox Music Pass (Groove Music Pass) is necessary to stream music from the service’s catalog.
Today’s update also include a number of bug fixes for both platforms, but the version of Xbox Music for iOS seems to have other issues that causes the app to stop unexpectedly. While we hope Microsoft fixes this and other issues, we also hope future updates will bring the Groove branding to Android and iOS.
