Xbox One officially goes on sale next Friday, November 22nd, and Microsoft continues offering videos showcasing the game console performance and features. Previously we have seen the 12-minute video, which showed the real performance of Xbox One using games, apps, and TV. Then came the Vine video demonstrating how easily you can redeem an Xbox Live Gold card code, and today a new 15-second Instagram video from Larry Hryb (Microsoft’s Major Nelson) shows how quick Xbox One powers on after using the voice command: “Xbox: On”.

So how long does the Xbox One take to boot up? In Major Nelson’s video the game console powers on under 13 seconds, and 15 seconds if we also count the extra 2 seconds it takes to login and load the personalized dashboard. Though, it’s not absolutely clear if the Xbox One was resuming from standby or it was a cold boot. Either way I have to admit it is really fast and not having to grab the controller to turn on the console is really impressive.

This Instagram video doesn’t only demonstrate one of the unique features of Xbox One, but it also shows the power of Kinect 2 recognizing a voice commands and how instantly recognizes a user.

Although this is a very nice feature to have, many people still think that this is a privacy concern, as many believe that the company could potentially use Kinect to listen to private conversations and collect keywords to target ads. Microsoft cleared the air saying that Xbox One will only listen to certain command and they assured the company won’t be spying on users. Furthermore for those who feel skeptical, the company added an option to disable the “Xbox: On” voice command.
