For those Xbox One owners who have been wondering if they could use the Kinect sensor in Windows, today Microsoft says, yes! The company is introducing today a $49.99 adapter to make the Xbox One’s Kinect compatible with any Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 device.

Even though there is a Kinect version 2 for Windows, the sensor that comes with Xbox isn’t any different. This means that you can get more use of your Kinect and save money in the process.

With this new announcement, Microsoft is also releasing the Kinect SDK version 2 for developers and everyone else who is interested on building an app that uses Kinect and publish it in the Windows Store.

The Kinect Adapter for Windows connects to your PC and tablet, it’s available immediately in selected markets and Microsoft also says that you can use the adapter as spare power supply for the Kinect for Windows v2 sensor.
