Today, if you walk into your favorite electronic store or you login into an online store, you can purchase an Xbox One for just $349 in the US. This price cut has been around for a while, but it’s a limited-time offer that is coming to an end on January 3rd, even though the promotion has boost sales and has put Xbox One ahead of Sony’s PlayStation 4 for the first time. Also various retailers around the country are offering their own special deals, but they will end on January 3rd.

I suspect this is a marketing campaign created to sale as much as possible on a given period. I would not be surprise if on January 4th, Microsoft decides to make the price cut permanent or if another promotion will kick in soon after. However, the uncertainty is what is going to drive consumers to buy the console until January 3rd.
