Zoom released new updates on Wednesday, including allowing iPad Pro owners to fully utilize the device’s ultra-wide front camera during a video call.
The company announced that Zoom’s iOS App now supports the Center Stage feature found on the latest 2021 iPad Pro models. Center Stage works by using machine learning to detect people in the frame and adjust the camera position to fit a person perfectly within the frame.
“With support for Center Stage, you can participate more naturally in our Zoom video calls,” Zoom wrote in its blog post.
“Never again worry about whether you’re out of frame during a workout, teaching a class, or celebrating with friends and family over Zoom.”
Support for Center Stage is available on Zoom 5.6.6 and above and on the new 2021 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models.
Zoom also announced an expanded Gallery View for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Now, Zoom can display up to 48 video tiles at once during a meeting in Gallery View. Previously, you could only see up to 25 video tiles. Other iPad models get expanded gallery view updates, but the number of tiles is based on the screen display size.
Either way, for all iPad users, all you have to do to view more people in a video call is pinch the display with two fingers and zoom either in or out to control how many video tiles are displayed in your meeting.
